Never Let Em’ Smell You Sweat: 3 Not So Obvious Ways To Keep The Stank Away

Winters here. And for some reason guys tend to think that if it’s cold outside, we won’t stink as much. Our logic is, ”Hey, it’s 33 degrees outside and I’m wearing a t-shirt under a hoodie and leather moto jacket—who’s gonna smell me?” But why even take the chance? Offensive odor can cause someone to form an unfavorable opinion of you. And it can get awkward being stuck in an elevator when you smell like sauteed onions. But smelling good isn’t just choosing a good deodorant, there’s a formula to smelling impeccable.

While regular showers, deodorant, and cologne do play a part, people with heavenly aromas go the extra mile. They think about what they put in their bodies, and what they wear on them as well. Get like them, and follow these pointers for staying fresh underneath your winter attire.

1. Your diet Is more important than you think

You know what they say, “you are what you eat.” Well, apparently you also smell like what you eat (and drink).

Tip: If you want to smell good, it’s important to be thoughtful about what you put in your body.

A diet full of onions, garlic, and red meat can be tasty, but it comes out through your pores for up to 48 hours after consumption, and that’s low-key gross. Food not only affects your natural body odor, but also how cologne reacts with your body. Eating lots of fresh food, including fruits, vegetables and clean protein keeps the body fresh and running smoothly, which provides the perfect environment for pleasant fragrances.

2. Your clothes play a big factor in how you smell

This may seem super obvious, but give us a sec. Maintaining and washing your clothes regularly with the right stuff makes a major difference in the odors you emit.  So many detergents and fabric-softeners these days are mimicking what’s happening in the fine-fragrance industry. There are even some brands with higher-end fragrances that are doing laundry detergents or any of the ancillary-type products like fabric softeners. You just have to do your research to find one that works for you. Not sure about you, but who isn’t a sucker for that fresh laundry aroma?

3. Stay Hydrated and Keep Your Skin Moisturized

If it’s not already, water should become your best friend. Staying hydrated is great not just for your overall health, but for keeping your skin moisturized, which helps good scents stick around longer; giving them something to latch on to. Staying well-hydrated is key, especially with natural fragrances that don’t contain synthetic fixatives. When our skin gets dry, it tends to absorb and dissipate cologne much quicker. So—drink water, moisturize your skin and stay fresh people!
