Scotch Porter man Magenta Saturday is on a mission to take full control of his life. Our Creative Director Iquan Worthington got to hang out with Magenta for a day of good conversation during a six mile run, enjoyed a Spanish breakfast and got some fall prep tips.
I connected with Magenta around 10 am and we kicked off our run in Linden, NJ which ended up being a six mile hour run. During the course of the workout, I remember being very intrigued by one part of the conversation. Magenta told me a story about his personal growth and what he has learned over the course of the last 5 years. See, I met Magenta about 6 or 7 years ago at an agency that we both did work for. I knew him for his loud character, style and love for partying. But I also knew that he had a level of intelligence and sophistication that unfortunately I had never seen from any of my peers at the time. It made me eager to want to know him and how he became the this guy, given that we are from the same hoods, same schools and same people. Over the last couple of years I learned a few things about him by hanging out and working with people within the same circles. We were never close, but I swore I learned something.
Up until this run, I thought that because Magenta had studied law, traveled and partied with big shot professionals this made him who he is. But I was wrong! Four miles in, after catching up on life, talking about some old agency stories and cracking jokes. Things out serious! Magenta and I had got to that point in the conversation were we had to explain how and why, we became the men that we are now. I learned that it took Magenta to lose everything that I glorified to become who he is. Magenta took me through a time in his life were he struggled, lost and struggled to gain that same focus back that once made him feel like he was on top of the world. I learned that through the power of family (his dad), removing oneself from familiar environments and deep self-actualization you can bounce back and be in full control of your life. I learned that I did the same for myself, without effort, without a plan, without being told… I took control of my life.
After that run, we talked more, relaxed the legs and muscles for a bit and walked one mile back to his place were we enjoyed a Spanish style breakfast. Details? Spanish Baked Eggs, Chorizo with Couscous. I enjoyed the food and time so much that I failed to capture any images. Luckily for you, I pulled a recipe from msihua.com. You’ll need a few items…

I bounced, showered and caught back up with Magenta for the final part of our meet up. The initial point of meeting up was to capture some ‘Fall Prep’ images. What’s Fall Prep? Fall Prep is pairing some of your summer items with a piece or two from your fall swag collection. In this set of images, Magenta had two looks.
cas-hletic, perfect for chilling after six mile runs. This is a comfortable, relaxed athletic look, but with minimal design and detail. Pair that up with some clean but relaxed running shoes and they just might let you in the club.
The second look is pretty easy, if you get this wrong… Go sit over there!
Magenta isn’t ready to do away with some of his favorite Summer shirts, so he’ll continue to rock them but will be sure to carry a jacket for those early or late fall mornings and nights.
