Ever since making its Off-Broadway debut at The Public Theater in February 2015 in New York City, Hamilton has been a hit. The original engagement was sold out, and the rest is history; literally. This musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton features the music, lyrics, and book by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The show is inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by historian Ron Chernow and has been a massive success since its inception. Well, the show is spreading out and coming to a city near you, which is sure to make a perfect weekend event for you to take in soon.
The show took over Broadway in August 2015 and received enthusiastic critical reception and incredible advance box office sales. In 2016 the show won a record-setting 16 Tony nominations, winning 11, including Best Musical. The production spread to Chicago in September 2016, opening at the PrivateBank Theatre. The show is now kicking off it is first U.S. national tour which started recently in California. The show runs for a few months before then heading to Los Angeles. Show in L.A. start on August 11th and will run through the Holiday season. Early in 2018 Hamilton will take over San Diego, Seattle, Denver, Houston, and Atlanta, with many more dates coming as well.
